  1. Mark Pincus's comments on apps becoming the future of the web mirror my own thoughts. Like many people, it is becoming more and more evident that applications like this will dominate traditional software. He mention's Excel and other ubiquitous software programs as being fundamental to Microsoft's cash machine, so I'm generally interested in the steps traditional companies such as these are going to take to preserve their positions and products. Will they license it to these app developers?

Another notion I wonder about is when Google and Zynga will create apps that function as well as Word, Excel, etc. Even though Google apps has come a long way, I still prefer Microsoft Word over Google Docs anyway, as it has more features and is easy to use. I think companies like this need to invest more development time into these programs if they really want to transform the market from software to apps.

  2. I feel like more apps will just distract people more than they already do. Although useful apps used for companies and such are helpful. Nonetheless, Pincus made a smart choice of designing Facebook because now it's popular everywhere and everyone uses it. It's more of a mature atmosphere where people can keep updated with each other and you can find mutual friends.
